Sildenafil (generic name)

The active ingredient in sildenafil is sildenafil citrate. This ingredient relaxes blood vessels in the penis, improving blood flow during sexual stimulation and facilitating erections in men with erectile dysfunction.

In addition, the tablet contains various inactive ingredients including microcrystalline cellulose, anhydrous calcium hydrogen phosphate, croscarmellose sodium, hypromellose (E464), magnesium stearate, and in the film coating: hypromellose (E464), titanium dioxide (E171), lactose monohydrate, triacetin, and chromium aluminium sulfate (E132).

Common side effects of sildenafil tablets include headache, nausea, indigestion, nasal congestion, and dizziness.

Less common side effects may include vomiting, abdominal pain, rash, nosebleeds, and vision changes.

In rare cases, serious side effects may occur, such as chest pain, persistent or painful erection, sudden decreased or loss of vision, allergic reactions, seizures, or severe skin reactions.

Prolonged erection (priapism): Immediate medical attention should be sought if an erection lasts longer than four hours, even without physical or psychological stimulation, as this could be a medical emergency. Vision changes: Sildenafil may rarely cause changes in vision or sudden loss of vision. If you notice any changes in your vision while taking sildenafil, stop using it and consult your healthcare provider.

Allergic reactions: Stop taking sildenafil and seek medical help if you notice signs of an allergic reaction, such as difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or throat, or a rash.

Alcohol consumption: Excessive alcohol consumption can reduce the effectiveness of sildenafil and increase the risk of side effects. It is recommended to limit alcohol consumption while using this medication.

Use in children: Sildenafil is not intended for use by individuals under 18 years of age.
